The “Queensland nut” or macadamia nut is a notoriously hard nut to crack, even with a conventional nutcracker.
The "QLD Nut" Buster makes very quick work of opening macadamia nuts & with a little practice, you'll be extracting whole macadamia nuts at a cracking pace.
Cracking these tough little nuts with a hammer can be downright dangerous with wayward nuts being sent in all directions inadvertently striking down small dogs and children that happen to be passing by. Then along came Nigel “The Nutcracker Man” Anthony and the ingenious
“Queensland Nut” Buster Nutcracker made right here in Qld Australia.
The “Queensland Nut” Buster Nutcracker is not just a macadamia nutcracker. It can be also be used on nuts such as pecans, hazelnuts and walnuts as shown in the video below.

The “Queensland Nut” Buster Nutcracker handle and stands are made using durable hardwood from the Kwila (merbau) tree. At the head of the handle, there is a rubber sleeve that securely grips the nut while it is cracked. Once cracked, any remaining nut in the sleeve is removed using the ejection wire that is built into the head of the cracker.
The “QLD Nut” Buster stand includes a cracking plate and storage hole to protect the rubber from UV light.
There are no threads to strip or pins to break and is easier to use than any other macadamia nut nutcracker we’ve bought in the past.
How to use the “Queensland Nut” Buster Nutcracker
-
Insert the macadamia nut in the rubber sleeve on the Nutcracker. The rubber sleeve will open wider to take a larger nut – even a walnut
-
Hit the nut on the steel surface provided, or another hard surface (e.g. house brick or concrete block).
-
Push the wire on the back of the cracker to eject the nut. Remove any remaining shell before inserting the next nut.
